Would having a 17" cymbal attached to a tom stand on a b drum wobble?

Would attaching a a 17 inch crash cymbal to a tom stand (the kind that sticks out of the b drum) with a boom arm attachment clamp make anything wobble? Would a boom arm attachment clamp support a 17 inch cymbal, or should I grab a boom stand to achieve the same placement?
