Making marriage legal in BC?

I am going to have a religious ceremony in Mexico but my fiance and I want to make it legal before we go (we live in British Columbia, Canada) because its much easier and cheaper. We are going to get the marriage certificate and then know that we have to go to the courthouse and have a jp marry us but has anyone done that before where you want them to be as clinical as possible when it comes to the process? Just because I don't want the civil process to not feel like the actual official wedding but just to make the government happy. Can you actually have them ask you the questions in a drier manner and have everyone sit down as if it were a meeting? I know this sounds silly but the religious ceremony to me means much more. Also what does it cost for the court house to do it?
